Timeline & audio

The strip under the preview controls timing, playback and music.

Play & scrub

Use Play / Pause (or the Space bar) to preview the stitch-out. Drag the scrub track to jump to any moment — the preview updates live.

Length

The Length control sets how long the exported video runs. The range is 5 seconds to 3 minutes for the Lines style. The Relief style is capped at 20 seconds, because every stitch is rendered individually and longer clips would take very long to export.

The stitches are spread across the length you pick — a shorter length means a faster stitch-out, a longer one a slower, more detailed build.

Stitch window

The Stitch lane shows which part of the design animates. Drag the ends to trim where the stitch-out starts and stops, or drag the middle to move the window — handy if you only want to show part of a big design.

Needle marker (free)

Turn on the needle marker (the small triangle button) to show an animated needle that follows the newest stitch as the design builds — a nice touch that reads well on any background. Pick its color when it's on. It disappears once the design is fully stitched.

End card

Videos end with a short end card. On the free tier this is a one-second "Created with StitchMotion" card and is always shown. With Pro it's optional — off by default, but you can switch it back on to support the app.

Audio (free)

Add music from the audio button in the overlay toolbar. Use the built-in demo track or pick your own file (WAV, MP3, M4A or AAC, up to 10 minutes).

In the audio options you can:

  • Trim the clip on a waveform (set the start and length);
  • set the volume;
  • add a fade in / fade out;
  • replace or remove the track.

The music plays during the stitch-out animation (it's muted over the end card).
